Brev till en sörjande
Idag är det den 20e Juli, 2014, nästan 3 år sedan min höggravida fru gick dog utan förvarning. Genom en ”osynlig” hjärtsjukdom försvann hon ur mitt liv och ur vår värld, och vad som lämnades efter var ett kaos. Samtalet som min familj förväntade sig om att vi fått vår efterlängtade dotter blev istället ett samtal om att Madde och Lilly Line hastigt dött.
Igår fick jag redan på att en vän till min bror, och en vän till många av mina vänner gick bort, hastigt, i cancer. Efter lämnar han sig sin fru och 1 (+1) barn. Givetvis i deras eget kaos.
Vad som är viktigt att komma ihåg nu är att ingens sorg är som någon annans, och det finns ingen regelbok för vad som är en quick fix eller lösning på att vända livets skepp upprätt igen.
Jag skriver från mitt eget perspektiv om olika saker och tankar som spelade stor roll i min egen process fram till idag, att vända mitt skepp rätt igen.
Delar av detta brev kan vara svårt att läsa nu, men verka vettigt om en månad, ett halvår, ett år.
1, Utan Gud, och den oförtjänta kärleken som ständigt strålar över mig från Gud skulle jag inte ha klarat mig. Jag är övertygad om Guds existens. Madde var övertygad. Vi visste bara inte att Madde skulle få förmånen att få möta Jesus först. (Detta låter kanske som en fanatiker som pratar om döden som något gott och hoppet om evigheten som något fint, men som kristen är det i en sådan här situation som det hoppet måste få sättas på prov och vinna över allt annat). När allt annat faller så blir det kusligt klart hur Guds enorma kärlek till oss uppenbaras. Allt vi har gömt Gud bakom, relationer, människor, saker… Allt raseras och som sista post står Gud, och inget kan rasera den stabilitet som Gud erbjuder osjälviskt till oss varje dag, genom varje andetag av sorg och smärta.

2, Det var madde som dog. Det var vår dotter Lilly Line som dog. Det var dem. Det var inte jag. Jag kan inte göra något åt det. Det är som det är. Även om, i början, det kändes hopplöst för mig att fortsätta leva så valde jag tidigt (ja, jag tror man kan välja sin grundinställning, att leva eller dö. Inte sagt att det för dig till säker strand men det hjälper dig att nå lite längre på den livsvägen du nu väljer att gå på, vilken det än må vara) att leva. Jag kände mig som en 90 årig man, just begravt min fru och dotter. Jag väntade på att dör själv. Andra stunder kände jag mig som en figur i ett dataspel. Jag hade dött men fått ett extraliv. Det var inte över. Av någon anledning som jag aldrig kommer förstå förrän jag får möta Madde och Line, och vår frälsare Jesus i evigheten så ska jag leva. Jag ska inte dö. Min tid är fortfarande, Maddes tid är inte längre här. Lilly Lines tid var så kort så kort, men jag älskar henne inte mindre för det. LEV! Stäng inte av, stäng inte in. Lås inte fast! LEV!
3, Vi lever i en brusten värld. Vi lever i en illusion där vi tror vi är hela, fullkomliga. Jag föddes i Guds avbild, därför är jag komplett, varje val jag gör är riktigt. Detta är en illusion. Ja, vi föddes i Guds avbild men vi lever i en värld av synd och brustenhet. Vi lever ett liv där vi får säga Ja till Jesus och bryta med våra synder, och söka vad som är gott i Guds ögon och lägga ned vad som för oss längre ifrån. I denna diffusa illusion är vi odödliga. Vi ska inte dö. Vi ska alla leva tills vi blir 100 år. Aldrig sa Gud att vi alla skulle leva tills vi blir 100 år. Gud säger att vi ska se till fåglarna i skyn och blommorna på marken (matteus 6:28). Gud talar om för oss att vi fyller våra liv med sådant som inte egentligen borde ta plats, med sådant som sårar oss. Med illusioner om att mänskligheten inte är brusten. För mig så var detta en god nyhet och en god insikt. Vi är lovade de andetagen som vi andas in men inte alltid utandningen som borde följa. Vi är lovade den morgon vi vaknar upp, men inte alltid aftonen som följer. Livet är så skört, och vår tid på jorden ligger i Guds hand. Maddes tid tog slut när hon var höggravid vid 23 års ålder. Din väns tid tog slut tidigare än någon av oss önskade. Men vi lever! Och vi lever med ett hopp! Den som har gått före oss har inte några smärtor längre, och Jesus håller dig och mig i sin hand. Vi känner stor sorg och smärta. Vi ville annat, men nu måste vi LITA på Gud, vi måste sätta vår TRO till Gud, för nu blev vårt brustna liv ohyggligt på riktigt och nära, och TACK GUD att vi har vårt hopp i Jesus! Alldeles nyss fick jag höra en sång från min sånglärarinna. Vi talade om existentiella frågor och om helande och död. Hon, judinna, sjöng en sång till mig som finns i hennes kultur. En lovsång och sång om helande. Inte helande som jag först tänkte (helande fysiskt, sjukdom som försvinner osv) utan emotionellt och mentalt helande så att vi, trots det som bryter ned vår fysiska kropp, kan vara redo att bli helade genom Gud och få gå in i evighetens glädje!

4, Att leva igenom en stor sorg, en ofattbar sorg till en början, är oerhört svårt. Ja, det finns terapi (jag skulle önska att du kan gå till en kristen rådgivare/samtalspartner). Ja, det är olika steg man får försöka ta sig igenom. Och det går, om än i olika hastigheter.
Skrik rätt ut. Gråt tyst. Ät onyttigt. Ät nyttigt. VAR INTE RÄDD FÖR MÄNNISKORS OMTANKE! Du är ingens börda, men mångas kärlek. Ta emot så mycket som du mäktar med, men var inte rädd för att säga STOP. Detta kommer hjälpa dig på fötter igen, och även folk runtomkring dig som också är i sorg. Dina vänner kommer vara lika förvirrade som du i vad som ska sägas och göras. Vad jag gillade var när mina vänner var vanliga. Vi gjorde vanliga saker. Så klart var allt överskuggat av den plötsliga sorgen i våra liv, men det hjälpte mig att leva. Trots den olustiga känslan av att alla vet vad som har hänt, så kändes det ändå gott att försöka vara ”vanlig”. Ut och ät och tala om fotboll. Gå och bowla och skratta åt roliga minnen. Gå och handla och ta en fika.
5, Energi. Jag ser det som att vi har olika energibehållare i vårt liv. Vi har en för familj, en för jobb, en för vänner osv. Just efter Madelene och Lilly Lines bortgång så tömdes alla mina behållare. Behållarna är i beroende av varandra. Även om jag ville spendera tid med en vän, så tömdes den lilla energin jag hade samlat upp oerhört snabbt. Detta för att det inte fanns någon energi/balans i övriga behållare. Men det är ok. Använd den energin du har, och när den är slut, var inte rädd att tala om detta. Låt människor hjälpa. De är lika rädda och osäkra och förvirrade som dig. Var förlåtande om någon säger något knasigt. Ingen vet hur man ska bete sig. Alla är på tå. Alla vill ditt bästa. Var förlåtande när det uttrycks knasigt ibland.
6, Tacksamhet. Tack Gud varje dag för den du förlorat. Tacka för den personens tid i ditt liv, med allt vad den fick lära dig och andra runtomkring. Tacka för att ditt liv aldrig kommer bli var det var innan du träffade denna person. Tacka för att ni tillsammans fick tro på en Gud som är STÖRRE än döden (1 kor. 15:55). Tacka Gud för att du lever, och SKA fortsätta leva tills den dagen Gud kallar Dig hem. Ingens tid på jorden är för kort. Din tid på jorden har en mening. En vän till min familj gick bort, över hundra år gammal. Han hade tagit många många många steg på vår jord, och lämnat avtryck i människor. Min dotter Lilly Line blev 9 månader i Maddes mage. Jag har ett (1!!) fotavtryck från hennes lilla fot, förevigat i gips. Ett steg på vår jord fick hon ta, men likt väl satte det steget ett enormt avtryck i mitt liv och jag tackar Gud för det steget varje dag! I all förvirring, i all ilska, frustration, i alla frågor som lyder: Varför, Gud?, så glöm inte att också säga: Tack, Gud!
7, Ni kommer att ses igen. Det är mitt hopp och min tro. Jag har gått igenom dalen. Jag har tagit mig över broar. Jag har bestigit toppar. Jag lever. Och jag ska leva. Det finns såklart oerhört mycket att berätta om min historia, men för nu så får detta vara nog. En god vän till mig, som förlorat sin son för många år sedan i en bilolycka, sin dotter i cancer, sin svärson i cancer och sin man i cancer, sa: Thomas, ibland går det en dag utan att jag behöver ta en paus. Ibland går det en halv dag innan jag behöver sitta ned. Ibland tar det en timme mellan stunderna jag behöver en paus. Ibland tar det bara en halvtimme. Ibland tar det bara en minut innan jag behöver stanna upp och andas. Men det är ok. Det får vara ok. För jag lever, och Gud är med i både min glädje OCH min sorg.
Jag hoppas att detta brev kan vara till hjälp för både dig, din familj och dina vänner.
Jag känner dig inte, men jag vet att du har en stor uppgift framför dig. Du har en svår och tung resa. Resan har ett mål som är ljust och hoppfullt. Jag kommer gifta mig nästa juli, 2015 (efter en del konstiga tankar om det är ok att gifta sig igen och vad Madde skulle sagt… tro mig, alla tankar måste få plats och få tänkas, men se till att ventilera ALLT med dem du har förtroende för.) De kan ge dig råd som inte verkar vettiga för dig, men som är oerhört värdefulla! Var också på din vakt för människor som vill gotta sig i din sorg, som inte vill släppa taget om dig och när sig på din situation.
Jag lever! Jag tackar Gud för att Madde levde, och för Lilly Lines betydelse för mig och oss! Jag tackar Gud för den framtiden jag går in igenom mitt nya förhållande.
